West Street Library

Spring 2023

Location: Boston, MA

The West Street Library developed from a series of questions investigating how different spaces, materials, and porosities make us feel. By pairing different programmatic elements with descriptors, I could explore how a space might look. I assigned adjectives to different materials, porosities, thicknesses, and curve depths to determine physical occupation. For example, the children's reading area should be open, whimsical, and inquisitive, meaning the space would have shallow wooden curves with doors and windows.
